Sustainability measurement markers of a manufacturing process

The objective of a sustainable manufacturing process requires the use of specific analysis and measurement indicators for decision-making at all levels of an economic agent's operation. This research paper presents a methodology for the projection of indicators/markers, determining a sustainable manufacturing process, as a result of the requirements of European legislation. The framework for defining the objective and the scope is analyzed and addressed as follows: within the objective - one investigates what are the concerns in the manufacturing process of a product and what is the type/types of indicators appropriate for achieving this; within the scope - if/how it is implemented and in what manufacturing context. The analyzed methodology draws a parallel between environmental cost indicators and sustainability indicators. Using the results of this research, a series of indicators/markers can be established, focused on cost, maintainability, efficient use of energy, consumption of non-renewable resources and efficient recycling of the finished product after scrapping.
